Combination Therapies For Optimum Acne Treatment

Combination therapies for optimum acne treatment – Be it a teenager on the brink of high school or a young adult at the prime of her career, the unsightly look of acne can lead to emotional grief for anyone. In order to combat the emotional duress and give a permanent solution to acne, Dubai based Bloom Aesthetic & Laser Clinic has developed a revolutionary combined approach system, for the treatment of acne and acne scars

“Acne is the most common skin problem that affects 99% of the world’s population at least once in their lives. Most of the time acne clears on its own. However, waiting for acne to go away on its own can be quite depressing and frustrating. Leaving it untreated can also cause permanent scars leading to psychological problems like low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety to the sufferer,” said Dr. Dalia Ibrahim, Cosmetologist & Laser Therapist at Bloom Aesthetic and Laser Clinic. “If you are also a victim of unpleasant, painful acne, advancements in technology have led to invention of numerous clinical procedures that help clear up acne within a few weeks. However, your acne treatment mainly depends on the degree of your acne as well as on the cause of acne.”

Based on its severity, acne is divided into two categories mild to moderate and severe acne. The initial signs of mild acne include appearance of a few red bumps on the forehead or chin area, and if the cause of acne is not addressed in time, these red bumps will start spreading and may cover your forehead, chin area as well as cheeks. Most of the time, the reason behind mild acne is a stressful routine at work or other tensions in your personal or professional life. The treatment for mild acne is usually with over the counter products, such as anti-acne soap, face wash and cleansers, oil free moisturizer, Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic can also help eliminate the acne.

“On the other hand moderate to severe acne is characterized by deep abscesses, inflammation and severe redness of skin. The pimples continue increasing in size until they break down and start discharging pus. In worst case scenario, deep ulcers may also form under the blisters, leading to keloid-type irregular scarring. Severe acne is mostly caused by hormonal imbalances and cannot be eradicated completely without addressing the hormonal problems,” said Dr. Dalia. “The treatments for severe acne vary from Doctor prescribed medication to topical ointments. However at Bloom Aesthetic and Laser Clinic we employ a noninvasive procedure in the treatment of acne.”

The treatment known as Theraclear Laser System utilizes a vacuum and broadband light to clean, treat and remove the blocks to clear skin of the face & body. Treatments are quick to perform and highly effective. The vacuum part deeply cleanses the pore by extracting the blocked sebaceous material while the broadband light destroys the acne causing bacteria, reduces sebum production and reduces the redness and pigment changes associated with acne,” she said. “Most acne patients require 4 or 5 treatments every week to two weeks.  Usually after one treatment, there is very little improvement.  After the second treatment, the patient should notice a modest improvement.  The third treatment, however seems to produce the most significant improvement and after the fourth and fifth treatment, most if not all the acne lesions should be gone. Following the final treatment, the patient may also remain on any therapies they feel comfortable with and also must maintain a good skin care regiment. Most patients require a single touch up treatment every three to four months.”

Post acne scarring is a stressful problem for patients and physicians alike. The actual scars are a result of tissue damage that has occurred due to the inflammation caused by more severe forms of acne such as nodular or cystic acne. However, recently developed techniques have made this problem more manageable.

“For treatment purposes acne scars can be classified as macular, atrophic and hypertrophic. The macular scars are generally scars that are at skin level and create some discoloration of skin. Atrophic scars are depressed scars that are a result of collagen loss at the site of inflamed nodules and cysts. There are three types of atrophic scars: boxcar scars, which are angular scars that have sharp vertical edges and can be superficial or deep. They are also very similar to the scars left by chicken pox. Rolling scars are those that give the skin a wave-like appearance and ice-pick scars that are usually small with somewhat jagged edges and steep sides-like wounds from an ice pick,” explained Dr. Dalia. The treatments at Bloom Aesthetic and Laser combine different treatments such as laser for ultimate skin rejuvenation and renewal in conjunction with Carboxy therapy and PRP cell therapy for optimum results. Treatment plans can also use dermal fillers for deep scar argumentation as well as sub scission and micro needling.

“We pride ourselves in ensuring the latest treatments are available for treating skin issues and aiding in weight loss and hair loss. Our commitment is to ensuring that our patients look and feel good about themselves,” said Kanta Jethwani, the CEO of Bloom Aesthetic and Laser Clinic.
