1. The Writer’s Penthouse – The Corinthia

Larger than most Londoner’s homes, this humungous two-storey penthouse features a sophisticated library-like lounge with a stunning mahogany desk as it’s centre-piece. The upstairs annexe bedroom is linked by a private internal lift, or alternative grand sweeping staircase. The Writer’s Penthouse, unsurprisingly, holds over 1000 books and hand-written letters – making a magical setting for the enthusiastic writer and a truly apt residence for us upon our stay. The master bedroom is a haven of tranquility with direct access to a roof terrace overlooking London’s most iconic landmarks and a ginormous walk-in wardrobe ideal for longer stays.

The very latest in technology – a multi-media tablet is provided for your use. 2. The Dorchester Suite – The Dorchester

The epitome of old-school, Hollywood glamour, The Dorchester Suite is the pride of the hotel. The original parquet floor and wood-panneled walls take you back to the swinging 1950’s, when The Dorchester Hotel was in it’s glory days. The beautifully bespoke suite’s are designed by award-winning Oliver Messell, each featuring a fantastic four-poster bed and exotic, Asian-Esque drinks cupboard, filled with tempting treats and expensive champagnes. The suite is a world of mahogany, marble, velvet and silks – most notably draping the traditional sash windows looking out to the leafy acres of Hyde Park. There’s champagne and a very British pot of tea on arrival, as well as a complimentary airport transfer in one of the hotel’s executive cars.

The bathroom is awash with Italian white marble and a sleek mirror TV sits above the his & hers basins. There are two plump, perfectly soft robes hung on the door waiting to be worn and fresh flowers adorn the window ledge so the sweet scent of lily’s and gardenia’s hang in the air. It’s a bathroom so heavenly we could happily never leave.

3. One-Bedroom Suite – The Langham

Raising the game to another level with it’s recent multi-million pound renovation, The Langham is a new found love for us. The lavishly decorated suite oozes the aura of a Parisian penthouse with a starkly neutral colour palette and luxurious leather-back armchairs. A largely lavish chandelier hangs in the cozy lounge, where a plate of precious, pink macaroons are left to nibble on. Light parquet floor is visible throughout the suite and vibrantly-coloured accessories adorn the otherwise nude interior. Sliding doors make a grand entrance into the sparkling white, marble bathroom, which makes the perfect setting for a relaxing bath full of foam and bubbles.

For those of you that aren’t aware, The Langham is the only hotel in London to house an exclusive Club Lounge. The five-star establishment provides an extraordinary array of culinary offerings from celebrity chefs Albert Roux OBE and Michel Roux Jr such as afternoon tea tastings, champagne and cocktails throughout the day and evening canapés. There’s a private Butler Service, headed up by director Fadi Samhoun – who can help you achieve the seemingly impossible, from restaurant reservations to concert tickets and much much more.

A favourite hotel of ours for one reason in particular. Whether you’re in a standard room, or the best suite in the place – the service is impeccable. The Penthouse Suite, of course is extraordinary, with it’s stand-out private terrace, ideal for entertaining guests over the festive period. Inside, the décor is minimal yet homely and bright, with sunshine beaming through the sash windows of the lounge. The master bedroom, study and bathroom are all of the same style – sleek surfaces and leather-back chairs and walls adorned with contemporary art. There’s champagne on arrival and full use of the chauffeured hotel car between the hours of two and eight pm, making navigating the winding streets of London an easier task.

The private terrace is the ideal setting for a refreshing early breakfast and gives guests the chance to relish in the peace and tranquility of the quiet mews location.
