For Autumn/Winter 2015, L’AFSHAR takes inspiration from the iconic work of painter Francis Bacon to create a collection of darkly sophisticated accessories in the designer’s signature ‘box clutch’ style.
Designer Lilian Afshar is fast becoming a favorite on the fashion scene, having been celebrated in countless international publications and now also being stocked in stores located worldwide including Texas, London, Georgia, The United Arab Emirates and Shanghai. Afshar who lives in Dubai but is ancestrally from Iran and also having lived in London, Vancouver and Marbella uses her travels and experiences as inspiration for her distinctive designs. She works closely with her manufactures in Dubai to produce unique, unseen designs handcrafted from acrylic each season.
Echoing the contrasting hues of Francis Bacon’s Triptych – August 1972, designer Lilian Afshar builds on the popularity of the marbled pattern from previous seasons, and reinvents the effect for A/W15 in jet black, stormy grey, pastel lilac and pistachio green. The marble effect, made by swirling two colours together while the resin is still in a liquid state, creates a stunningly sophisticated effect on the finished clutch, with every piece having its own unique pattern.
L’Afshar also remasters the ‘crushed iced’ clutches with dramatic new effects—layered over with metallic finishes in silver, pale purple, and pale green—creating captivating textures and reflections.
A new style to be introduced this season is the ‘crystal cut’ clutch in both small and large sizes. Cut in geometric patterns, the clutch mimics cut crystal in clear acrylic and creates an elegant illusion.
