Antidote – Smarin
Antidote is a unique art & design platform created by two like-minded art consultants based in Dubai. Founders Laure Parise from France and Najeh Zimmermann from Pakistan have lived and worked in cities around the globe in the fields of art, design and fashion. This diversity of experience is reflected in their perception and sensibility of art and design. They believe in a singular approach to art and design as the borders between these two creative worlds has today become permeable. In 2014, Laure and Najeh decided to merge their talents and portfolios and launch Antidote. Antidote hopes to engage curious people by offering them the art and design “antidote” for a creative lifestyle.
Smarin, founded by Stephanie Marin, is a French based furniture designer who found success with her ‘Habits Magiques’ ready to wear collection in 1995. Since then, Marin has expanded her portfolio to include furniture design which promises no compromise between design, comfort and quality.
Andre C. Meyerhans’ creations range from mixed-use developments to furniture-like objects, art and jewellery. Andre evolves his designs along academic studies that portray a synthesis between objects, art and architecture. His work often bases on context-driven investigations or on parameter interventions that reach through reinterpretation and enhancement a life of their own.
Haze & Glory
Haze & Glory is motivated to deliver high-end vintage inspired premium garments and reviving time-consuming hand made techniques, Haze and Glory literally is work in progress. Constantly evolving and experimenting, we are driven by a strong Do-It-Yourself mentality to create quality deconstructed garments.
A simple apple falling from a tree was the beginning of much thinking and research that gave Newton the formula for the law of gravity. A Khalid Shafar object is conceived in the same way – sparked by a moment of inspiration and developed through a process of applied creativity, practicality, and functionality – until a design is formulated. Each object is the outcome of many experiments. Each object has its own journey and tale to tell. This is the essential tale of the Khalid Shafar brand. Participation in Dubai Design Week will also mark O Concept Store’s launch of their new and exclusive brands, with many of the lines being exclusive to them in the region. New brands include Lebanese-Brazilian designs by AAVVA Fashion, celebrity favourite Italian brand Tom Rebl, intricately designed abayas by Emirati duo Pose/Arazzi and trendy, unique eyewear from Spektre, Savas Bags and Mauron since 1959.
